*Visit PersonalizationMall.com’s 12 Days of Christmas Magic Page where you’ll find even more fun ideas for Christmas!*
Christmas Eve is one of the most special days of the year and with it comes an abundance of excitement and anticipation, so much so that the evening seems to fly by and come to an end before you have a chance to revel in the magic.
Well, we’ve come up with some great ideas and new traditions that will not only help make your Christmas Eve more memorable, it will also give you and your family the chance to really “be in the moment” and savor every minute of this special night.
For starters, kick off the night with a new tradition by letting the kids open one present on Christmas Eve – new personalized pajamas! Our Holiday Cheer Embroidered Pajama Sets are the perfect PJs because they can be embroidered with any name in both adult and youth sizes so the entire family can match! The kids will love getting a chance to open a gift early and Mom will be happy because it ensures that the kids will be dressed in cute PJs for Christmas Morning pictures!
Once everyone is nice and cozy in their new personalized PJs, sit down as a family and read the popular Christmas book The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg to get everyone in the mood for the adventure you’re about to surprise them with! When you’ve finished the book, announce that it’s time for bed and escort the kids to their rooms.
On each of their beds, hide an Embroidered Snowman Mini Treat Bag under the covers. Choose a boy or girl treat bag design for each of your little ones and have it embroidered with their name.
Have a camera ready because you’ll want to capture all of their giggles and screams as they discover their Christmas Eve surprises!
Inside each of the treat bags, include their favorite candy or snacks and most importantly – their special ticket for the “(Your Name Here) Express” (Click HERE for a free printable of our exclusive Express tickets (at left) that you can personalize with your own family name)!
Explain that they’ve just received a special ticket to go on a magical adventure and have them put on their coats and slippers and head the family car or van with their new treat bag and ticket.
When everyone is lined up, act as Conductor and punch a hole in each of their tickets before they climb into their seats.
Once everyone is buckled in, hand them their Christmas Lights Scavenger Hunt List (Click HERE for a free printable of our exclusive Christmas Lights Scavenger Hunt List) and a crayon and set out on your Christmas Eve adventure!
Take them on a car ride past all of the best decorated houses in your area so they can find items from their scavenger hunt list.
They can snack on the goodies in their treat bags as they stare out the window in wonder of all the beautiful twinkling lights of the neighborhood.
You can all work together as a family to find everything on the list or make it a friendly competition and suggest that whoever finds all of the items first wins a prize or gets to open the first present on Christmas morning.
Once you’ve finished your magical adventure on the Family Express, it’s time to make your way home. Before sending the kids off to bed, remind them to set out the special Cookies & Milk for Santa Plate and Mug that you can have personalized with their first names or any 3-line message. They’ll love knowing that Santa knows exactly who the cookies are from and they’ll head off to bed excited to wake up and see how many he ate!
Luckily we just saw this photo (at left) on Pinterest and have great way for you and your family to beat the heat – by having your own “Drive-In Movie” inside your home!
The “Not Just a Housewife” blog came up with the awesome idea to turn cardboard boxes into cars and place them in front of the TV so the kids feel like they’re actually at a drive-in movie theater! It’s a great way to get the kids’ “creative juices” flowing all while escaping the summer sun and spending quality family time together!
As you can see from the blog post (click the “Not Just a Housewife” link above to be directed to the full blog post), all you have to do is take a cardboard box and have the kids decorate it to look like any type of car they’d like! The blog post suggests covering the boxes with colored or patterned duct tape so that the cardboard becomes more durable and lasts for more than one movie, but if you don’t have any colored duct tape on hand, feel free to just let the kids use crayons or markers to decorate the boxes with their own artwork. Don’t forget to attach paper plates for the car’s wheels for an extra cool effect!
Once everyone has created their own cars, place them in a straight line on the ground in front of the TV and decide what movie everyone would like to watch.
Now that you have the movie picked out there’s only one thing left to do – gather up some movie snacks!
Movie snacks wouldn’t be complete without popcorn, and with the Old-Fashioned Red Popcorn Bowl Set everyone can have their own bowl to hold onto in each of their “cars.” You can personalize the large bowl with your family name or any message you’d like for just $39.95 and the small bowls can be purchased individually for only $9.95 each. We love the old-fashioned look to the bowl and our Old Fashioned Four Seasoning Popcorn Party Set that you can also purchase for just $12.95. The personalized bowls are high quality so you can feel free to use them for more than popcorn on family movie nights. They can be used for all of your dining and entertaining needs, including using them as salad bowls when you’re hosting a dinner party or to serve other types of snacks when you have company.
Have them work on their handwriting and spelling by creating a poster board that shows a menu with the different types of snacks and the cost of each item. Use the My Private Stash Personalized Cash Box as the cash register and have your kids take turns being the concession stand worker.
Whoever plays the concession stand worker takes their siblings’ popcorn, candy and drink orders and using play money, will use the math skills they learned during the school year to figure out how much change they need to give back to each of their customers! You can choose a pink or blue cash box and have it personalized with any 2 lines across the top and your kids can use it for all sorts of future make-believe games or to hold their allowance. The cash boxes usually cost $24.95 but if you act fast, you can personalize them now while they’re on sale for just $18.70!
Once everyone has their snacks and the concession stand is “closed,” have everyone climb into their cars and tuck each of them in with a Personalized Sweatshirt Blanket so they can be comfy and cozy in their little “cars.” Since they’re in individual cars they probably won’t be able to share a blanket, but with our wide selection of Personalized Blankets you’ll have no problem finding the perfect design for boys and girls of all ages, no matter what their favorite hobbies or interests are. The kids will stay warm and comfortable in their cardboard boxes and the blankets can help prevent any sticky candy from falling onto your carpet (after all it’s a lot easier to throw a blanket in the wash, than it is to try and get a sugary stain out of your family room carpet)! The blankets will be great for the drive-in movie night, but your kids will also be able to use them for years to come, especially when they go on sleepovers, road trips or just when they’re sitting on the couch watching TV or doing their homework.
When everyone is ready, dim the lights and start the movie!
The homemade drive-in movie theater is a win-win for everyone. The kids are happy that they get to cool off and watch a movie and the parents are happy that the kids are using their creativity, math skills (without even realizing it) and spending quality time together. It’s not only a great way to beat the heat, it’s also a great way to make an unforgettable memory that your family will cherish forever!
If you have any ideas on ways to beat the heat this summer, feel free to share them in the comments below and make sure to visit PMall.com’s Back-to-School Store so you can get an early start to tackling those school supply lists!
Thank you for sharing all your sweet stories with PersonalizationMall.com … don’t forget to share them with your grandparents on Grandparents Day, which is coming up on September 9th.
It wasn’t easy, but we were able to select our 3 contest winners! Congratulations to Ryan Zahara, Maria Mahaffey and Brittany Addison who have been selected as our 1st, 2nd and 3rd-place winners!
Ryan has won the 12×18 Photo Sentiments Canvas with the following entry that he wrote about his grandparents, Zeke and Charlotte Clark:
“A grandparent is a special gift. The memories of countless books read, racing Hot Wheels on the carpet for hours, running through the grass with Papa’s dog, baking cookies with Grandma, having sleepovers so Mom and Dad could have a break, drawing lessons from Papa and endless encouragement. Grandparents are like second parents, your second home away from home, with two people that love you just as much as your parents do, with added experience.”
Maria Mahaffey won a Photo Sentiments Table Top Canvas for Josephine and Anthony Pisoni with the following creative entry:
“G-ive me unconditional love
R-est my head on their shoulders to comfort me
A-re there to play with me every day to make sure I’m safe while Mommy and Daddy go to work
N-eed nothing but smiles to make me happy
D-on’t waste a single moment with me because they know nothing is as important as family”
And finally, Brittany Addison is the winner of the Photo Sentiments Coffee Mug thanks to the following entry that she wrote for her Patricia Addison:
“My grandma is grand because she is FUN! Grandma played waitress with us even though we asked for the same sandwich every day (cut into “fishy” shapes). She let us put barrettes in her hair and even went in public with her new ‘do! She played spinning tops and even made up her own games for us. We love her!”
Congratulations to all our winners and thanks again for everyone who entered the contest. Make sure you keep checking back here for new contests and enjoy your Grandparents Day!

Here at A Personal Touch we LOVE to put a creative, personalized and unique spin on everything. So you can imagine how excited we’ve become now that we’re seeing couples thinking outside-the-gift-box when it comes to their wedding guestbook! Instead of setting out plain ol’ guestbooks, brides and grooms are getting creative and are coming up with unique items and ways for people to sign in and we can’t wait to tell you all about them!
As always, we stumbled upon our favorite idea from Pinterest! We saw the photo at left and were thrilled to see that people are personalizing canvases, like PMall’s Wedding Memories Photo Canvases, with one of their engagement pictures and having people write a little message and signing their names!
We love the idea that it’s more personal and people get to leave special notes for you but also because once everyone signs the canvas you have a beautiful, one-of-a-kind keepsake that you can hang in your home! It’s like getting 2 things for the price of 1 … and who doesn’t love that!?
To make matters better, PMall has a wide selection of Wedding Canvas Designs that offer you choices for even more of a unique twist to the guestbook! Some of the photo examples at right show how you can personalize an artistic canvas without a photo, like the Heart Rock design (top left canvas in photo at right), or another beautiful design like our popular Wedding Vows canvas (top right) which features the most important words you’ll say on the big day! The Forever and Always theme (bottom left) is a great example of how you can create a canvas in different sizes and shapes and also with the option to include more than one photo and the Photo Sentiments design (bottom right) is a great way to create a canvas with a photo and text that is important to you. You can use your personal vows that you’ve written yourself, a favorite quote, or even the lyrics from the song you will first dance to as husband and wife – the options are endless!
Believe it or not, the new guestbook trend doesn’t stop at pretty canvases. As you can see from the photo we came across on Pinterest (at left), people have been creating personalized photo puzzles, like the Love Connection Photo Puzzle (at right), and having their guests sign or leave a note on the front or back of the individual puzzle pieces! We love how unique this idea is and thanks to the wide selection of PMall’s Personalized Puzzles, you can personalize a puzzle in many different sizes, shapes, colors, and designs – some even come with a personalized tin to store them in! You can create one large puzzle (our largest puzzle includes 551 pieces) or personalize a couple of smaller puzzles and after the wedding you can put them together and frame them for one big piece of art or a beautiful wall collage! Think of all the fun you’ll have spending time as husband and wife, reading all the sweet and funny notes your loved ones have left you as you put the puzzles together. You could even bring the puzzle along on the honeymoon to put together during your downtime!
Brides and grooms have started putting out calendars and asking guests to sign on their birthday or anniversary. How creative is that!?
The only thing that would make this idea better is to use a photo calendar like PMall’s Through The Year Photo Wall Calendar (at right) so that it’s more personal and so you’ll have beautiful pictures to look at throughout the year! It’s a great way to learn all the important dates for your spouse’s family that you’ll need to know once you’re married and it’s a great way to break the ice between your guests, as well!
So what do you think!? Are you a fan of the new trend of unique guestbooks? Have you or are you going to use one of these ideas or one of your own? We’d love to hear all about them! Tell us by leaving a comment or by emailing us at email@example.com!
