While you start brainstorming about what item you want to write about, we thought we’d give you a couple tips and ideas to use the next time you take your family and friends out for picnic.

Whether you’re packing for two people or a family of six, it’s important to try and use foods that can be kept cold, that don’t require a lot of clean up and that are fun and easy to eat!

When we set out to find fun picnic foods we had no idea we’d come across something as fun as the Rainbow Gelatin Orange Wedges that we found on Tablespoon! This recipe is perfect for a family picnic because it’s so easy, even the kids can help make them! This colorful and inexpensive treat will have you smiling as bright as its colors when you leave your picnic without a mess or dishes to bring home and clean. The vivid colors will shine even more when you’re enjoying them outside under the sun with your kids. For full directions on how to make these rainbow treats click here.

Sometimes it’s nice to leave the kids at home and sneak off to have a nice, light and romantic picnic between you and your significant other. And there’s no better accessory for a romantic picnic than PersonalizationMall.com’s St. Tropez Duet Wine and Cheese Tote (it also matches our Blanket tote that the lucky contest winner will take home!). With two compartments for wine or food and pockets that hold the included stainless steel waiter-style corkscrew, 6″ x 6″ hardwood cutting board and stainless steel cheese knife with wooden handle, the tote is the only thing you’ll need to bring! It also is the perfect thank you or housewarming gift for you and your friends!

Before we start reading your creative input we wanted to leave you with a great tip we learned from the site, Something Green.

The only thing about picnics that isn’t fun are the party crashers that no one invited … bugs.

So we were jumping for joy when we came across Something Green’s picnic tip of using cupcake liners as drink covers to keep your drink free of thirsty bees and critters! It’s genius! Just punch a straw through the liner and place the liner over the drink and you’re ready to enjoy your lemonade without anything BUGging you!

So there you have it, some perfect tips and tricks to planning the perfect picnic. Now let’s hear what everyone can’t have a picnic without!

Leave your comment below before September 8th, 2011. The winner will be announced here September 9th.

Good luck and as always … Happy Gifting!

You can not have a picnic without…..

Gerber Spillproof Tops! They go great on frozen water bottles…just pop a Gerber top on the water bottle for the kiddies to drink..there is no spill or wet blankets if it tips over on the picnic blanket. Plus bugs can not get in it as well.

Peanut butter sandwiches, with some good story books, to read to the kids and a nice shady spot to sit under. It’s the best!!!!

  7. You can’t have a picnic without a few taste bud tickling sandwiches, cold drinks shared with the people close to you while enjoying the beauty of mother nature and mr. sun! πŸ™‚

  8. My family and baby powder!!! We live at the shore so we picnic every day on the beach. With a 3 year old and a 7 month old there is always sand everywhere…thats where the baby powder comes in! Sprinkle a little baby powder on sandy fingers, toes, cups etc and the sand magically brushes right off!!!
