Looking to surprise your little ones on St. Patrick’s Day? This St. Patrick’s Day craft idea takes just a few minutes to create, and is a fun — and edible — way to celebrate the day.
This pot o’ gold using Oreo cookies is seriously simple to make and takes almost no time to pull off. The personalized mini-bucket we used is totally optional; you can use any black container you have on hand. But we do think the mini-bucket adds a nice touch, and it can be reused for other things after St. Paddy’s Day celebrations are over.
What you’ll need to make the edible DIY pot o’ gold
- 1 family size package of Oreo cookies
- 1 can of Wilton’s Gold Color Mist food spray
- 1 black bucket or container
If you want to match the mini-bucket in our photo, choose the black bucket with green sticker and personalize it with your child’s name.
Directions
Lay the cookies out on a cookie sheet or piece of wax paper and spray the cookies evenly with the gold color mist. Wait a few minutes for the cookies to dry, then flip them over and spray the other side. (One can of the food spray should be enough for a couple dozen cookies or more.) Once the cookies are dry, place them in your black pot, and that’s it!
If you’d like, you can also print out and color a paper rainbow to stick into the bucket or have your kids create one as a fun craft for St. Patrick’s Day.
