08 Mar Easy Edible DIY Pot Of Gold
Looking for a fun way to surprise your little ones on St. Patrick’s Day? Take a few minutes to create this fun, edible pot of gold using Oreo cookies and March 17th will never be the same.
This DIY is seriously simple and only takes a few minutes to complete. The personalized mini-bucket we used is totally optional; you can use any black container you have at hand. But we do think the mini-bucket adds a nice touch and can be reused for other things after St. Paddy’s Day celebrations are over.
What You’ll Need
You need just three things to create this edible pot of gold:
- 1 family size package of Oreo cookies
- 1 can of Wilton’s Gold Color Mist food spray
- 1 black bucket or container
If you want to match the mini-bucket in our photo, choose the black bucket with green sticker and personalize with your child’s name.

Directions
To create your Oreo cookie gold, lay the cookies out on a cookie sheet or a piece of wax paper and spray the cookies evenly with the gold color mist. Wait a few minutes for the cookies to dry, flip them over and spray the other side. One can of the food spray should be enough for a couple dozen cookies or more. Once the cookies have a few minutes to dry you can place them in your black pot – and that’s it!
If you’d like, you can also print out and color a paper rainbow to stick into the bucket or have your kids create one as a fun craft for St. Patrick’s Day.
